Why Extended Stop Arms are needed

A superintendent from Iowa explains the problem succinctly. ┬áCameras and Laws don’t reduce violations:

“It’s been a huge issue for us,” said Embray. “We’ve been tracking the stop arm violations for the last several years. The buses we have are equipped with stop arm violation cameras, so we track those numbers and unfortunately those numbers have not decreased over the last several years; they’ve actually maintained or increased. It’s a very dangerous thing to have happen and I think people aren’t aware of what the law is. We’re very fortunate we haven’t had anyone hit.”
